Meanwhile, Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis have expanded pressure on Saudi Arabia and its Red Sea energy infrastructure. Reuters has reported attacks claimed against Saudi Aramco facilities in Jizan and Yanbu, threats against Saudi ports, attacks on tankers and efforts to disrupt Saudi oil transportation toward the Red Sea.
The result is a strategic paradox.
Even if navigation through Hormuz improves, the alternative energy and maritime routes designed to bypass Hormuz may themselves remain vulnerable.
