“…Lydia S., from Wisconsin is the winner of a poster contest sponsored by NASA Aeronautics’ Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) project. The challenge for kids in grades 6-12 was to create an original artistic depiction of what AAM looks like and how it is being accomplished. NASA’s vision for AAM is to help emerging aviation markets safely develop an air transportation system that moves people and cargo between places previously not served or underserved by aviation using revolutionary new aircraft – many of them powered by electric propulsion and other sustainable aviation green technologies that are only just now becoming possible. Envisioning the specific research areas of AAM such as detect and avoid, air traffic management, autonomous systems, and even flying personal drones safely at home, participants had a chance to imagine what this near-future may look like and illustrate it on paper…”
