“…Through the partnership with Nautilus Aviation, a division of Morris Group, the helicopter operator has ordered up to 10 aircraft from the eVTOL developer (Embraer Eve) that will be used in Queensland’s tourism areas, including the Great Barrier Reef.

“We share the same vision toward a carbon neutral future for air mobility, and this is a great use case for the solutions Eve is bringing to the market,” said Andre Stein, president and CEO of Eve, in a press release.

According to Nautilus Aviation’s CEO Aaron Finn, the company has had an advanced ecotourism certificate for eight years, but has not been able to completely avoid the greenhouse gas emissions that come from operating the company’s helicopters.

The partnership with Eve will allow it to “provide emission-free and quiet tours over the Great Barrier Reef,” he said. Ultimately, the company is working toward converting 100% of its scenic flights over the Great Barrier Reef to zero emissions electric operations.

“This partnership is an exciting development for Nautilus Aviation and Morris Group,” said Chris Morris, founder and CEO of Morris Group. “Eve’s eVTOL technology will integrate seamlessly into our operations to deliver a range of exciting zero emission tourism experiences.”

He said the company’s goal is to reach net zero emissions by 2030 across all its businesses.
